President Bola Tinubu has named 39-year-old Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission—www.naijnaira.com reports.
The Guardian reports that Ramat, a trained electrical engineer with a PhD in Strategic Management, will take charge in an acting capacity until Senate confirmation.
Two other nominees—Abubakar Yusuf for Consumer Affairs and Fouad Olayinka Animashun for Finance and Management Services—are also awaiting legislative approval.
To avoid a leadership gap, Tinubu instructed Ramat to begin work immediately, as allowed by law, while the confirmation process is underway.
The President urged the new appointees to use their skills to push reforms and boost efficiency in Nigeria’s power sector.
Ramat previously served as chairman of Ungogo Local Council in Kano State from 2021 to 2024, gaining administrative experience before this national role.
