Her parents hail from Isale Eko, a part of Lagos Island, In Lagos State.
At the age of 11, Savage’s family moved to London and lived there. This was the reason she grew up in London and had her education there.
At that young age in London, she joined her school’s orchestra band and played the trombone for them.
It was during this period that she developed a strong passion for music.
After her high School, she went on to study business administration at the University of Kent where she graduated with a degree.
It wasn’t long after her graduation before she started working at one of the banks in Scotland as of then, The Royal Bank of Scotland.
With her mind fully set on music, she went back to school and graduated with a degree in professional music from Berklee College of Music.
Though she left the school when she was 27, she continues to talk about her experience and relationship with people she met in that school as being part of the things that motivated her a lot while she was there.
From the age of 16, Tiwa Savage has already been known to roll with the big names in music in the UK and America.

Together with Tee Billz, she started a music label at Lagos called 323 Entertainment.
Though she was the Label’s biggest star as of then, Tiwa said many people greatly discouraged her from doing music in Nigeria. Some said her kinds of songs wouldn’t be welcomed in the country.
Like they truly cared about her, many advised her to go back to Europe and settle there. Had she listened to those words, we wouldn’t have had the “number 1 African bad gal” that we have today in her.
Rise To Glory
Not long after starting her record Label together with Tee Billz before they struck a deal with Nigerian music producer Don Jazzy to merge 323 Entertainment together with Mavin Records (Don Jazzy’s recording label)
This merger with Don Jazzy turned out to be all she needed to come to limelight.
Though she had an album she was recording before teaming up with Don Jazzy, It was not released until July 3, 2013.
That album named “Once Upon A Time” soon became the talk of the town that year. It was supported by seven singles “Eminado”, “Folarin”, “Ife Wa Gbono,” Kele kele Love”, “Olorun MI” and “Without my Heart”.
In her interview with Vanguard before it’s release, here is Savage is reported to have said concerning the album.
“This album is straight from my heart and is something I have worked so tirelessly for. A lot of people wondered why it took me so long drop my own album. That is because we had to go through a lot of legal processes to clear some of the samples that we used, and that took us some months.
Also, we wanted to work with notable producers outside the shores of this country like Oak who produces Rihanna.
So, we had to work around his schedule and waited for them to have our time. But this album is something that I really took time with because I didn’t want it to be the usual Nigerian album that contains just party tracks from the beginning to the end.”
To be frank, the album really lived up to expectation and shot Tiwa Savage to greater heights.
The Super talented Nigerian singer is not only good when it comes to music, she is also a very good actress.
