Former U.S. President Donald Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on July 7, as talks intensify around a Gaza ceasefire, NaijNaira can report.

The planned meeting was confirmed by Axios, with sources saying both leaders will discuss Gaza, Iran, Syria, and broader Middle East tensions.

Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s spokesperson, told reporters that Israeli official Ron Dermer is currently in Washington holding meetings with key White House staff ahead of next week’s visit.

An Israeli source in D.C. also confirmed Monday’s scheduled sit-down between Trump and Netanyahu, describing it as part of a push for renewed diplomatic engagement.

“Make the deal in Gaza, get the hostages back,” Trump wrote on social media Sunday, urging a resolution to the 20-month conflict.

Israeli airstrikes on northern Gaza intensified Monday, reportedly killing at least 60 people in one of the deadliest days in recent weeks.

Leavitt said the Trump team is in direct and regular contact with the Israeli government. “The images we’re seeing from both sides are heartbreaking,” she said, adding that Trump is laser-focused on freeing remaining hostages held by Hamas.

The war started on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel, killing 1,200 people and kidnapping 251 others.

Israel’s response has killed over 56,000 Palestinians and displaced nearly the entire population of Gaza, as reported by the Gaza Health Ministry.
