Linda Yaccarino, a former NBCUniversal executive, has been announced as Twitter’s new CEO by Elon Musk.
While Yaccarino won’t officially start until June, a parody account under her name has already been created and “suspended” Musk’s Twitter account.
The account, which states in its bio that it’s an “official parody account of the Twitter ceo,” already has 13,000 followers.
Per Twitter’s guidelines, parody accounts are permitted as long as they are clearly labeled on the profile.
Musk defended the appointment, stating that Yaccarino is “smart, fair and reasonable” and her hiring may be a wise decision for the company.
Yaccarino is well-respected in the advertising industry and has previously interviewed Musk at an advertising conference.
Neither Yaccarino nor Musk have commented on the appointment outside of normal working hours.
Twitter has not yet responded to requests for comment.
