Brazilian agent Andre Cury has revealed that Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior almost joined Barcelona before a last-minute intervention from Los Blancos. According to Cury, the transfer was all but completed, with everything ready for Vinícius to move to the Catalan club.
As reported by Madrid Universal, Cury, who worked as a scout for Barcelona in Brazil, explained that Barcelona had been pursuing the young forward for three years. The deal was reportedly set to go through when Real Madrid unexpectedly made their move, convincing Vinícius to head to Madrid instead.
“I can tell you that everything was ready for Vinícius to go to Barcelona. We were negotiating, and everything was set, but Real Madrid arrived and took him,” Cury explained.
Despite the strong interest from Barcelona, Vinícius was ultimately swayed by the opportunity to play for Madrid. The decision came down to Vinícius’s instincts, with his agents helping him make the final call.
