A video of Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers state, rejecting the position of minister has gone viral on social media.
In the video, Wike can be heard saying that he is not interested in being a minister and that he considers Rivers state to be an asset, not a liability.
“Only one person can be a minister from a state, I will not be a minister. I will not. I am not a liability, Rivers State is an asset.
“So if you don’t want to win an election, it’s your business. I’m not the one running the election. “He who wears the shoes knows where it pinches him,” Wike said in the now-trending video.
This statement was made during the inauguration of a lounge at the Port Harcourt International Airport.
Wike’s nomination as a minister has sparked discussions online, especially considering his previous statement in August 2022 where he expressed disinterest in the position.
It is worth noting that Wike had previously served as Nigeria’s minister of state for education before becoming governor.
