The United States has issued a fresh warning to Nigerians and other nationals attempting to deceive immigration systems through visa fraud, stating that violators will face a lifetime entry ban, NaijNaira can report.
The US Mission in Nigeria, through its official X handle, stated that its interagency task force is intensifying efforts to tackle fraud and curb illegal migration. According to a message posted on the platform, “We will pursue criminal charges against those who engage in visa fraud and those who bring in and harbor illegal aliens.”
This development follows a broader policy push to tighten immigration and border enforcement. The US maintains that “a nation without borders is not a nation,” reaffirming its stance on cracking down on both individual offenders and organized networks involved in immigration violations.
Officials also reiterated that visa fraud won’t just attract travel restrictions but could lead to prosecution under US criminal law.
Earlier, Washington signaled plans to reduce visa validity for several countries, including Nigeria. The decision, according to US authorities, is part of a global security review aimed at strengthening its immigration system using new benchmarks for technical and security compliance.
The US government has also warned of potential trade actions against countries aligning with BRICS policies.
