David Adeleke, a Nigerian singer better known by his stage name Davido, has spoken out about the untimely death of his son Ifeanyi Adeleke.
In a heartfelt interview with CNN, the musician sobbed as he talked about the premature death of his first kid.
He acknowledged that his album was somewhat influenced by his grief over losing his son.
According to the interview he said:
“Before my son passed, we had finished the album. But it was a tragic situation and I had to calm myself down and take a step back”.
Nobody would want that. And everybody knows that I and Chioma didn’t deserve that”.
Speaking on his return, Davido thanked all his family, relatives, colleagues who stood by him during the hard times.
“At some point, I couldn’t open my Instagram for weeks. One day, I just checked it and I saw messages from every kind of person in the world. I was like you’re fine, you see everybody is rooting for you. That was one thing that made me strong enough to stand up again, get back in the studio, and do what I love, ” he said
