Manchester City are facing some serious consequences following allegations of breaching FFP rules.
The Premier League has charged the reigning champions and an array of punishments could be handed down, from points deduction to being completely expelled from the league.
Initial punishment may come in the form of suspensions, as outlined by rule W51 of the Premier League.
Points deduction is also a potential consequence and any reduction will have a severe effect on their standing in the table – for example, if 15 points were deducted it would put them out of title-winning contention and into relegation danger.
Expulsion is an extreme measure that could see City kicked out of the Premier League altogether – although it’s uncertian where they might end up if that were to happen.
Stripping titles won during the period of the alleged breach (2009-2018) and financial fines are also possible consequences of this case.
