On Tuesday, Chelsea announced the signing of Christopher Nkunku for a fee of around £52.5 million.
The French international forward is the first signing of the Mauricio Pochettino era at Stamford Bridge, although the deal was agreed before the former Tottenham manager took over at the club.
Nkunku scored 16 goals in 25 matches in the Bundesliga last season for RB Leipzig and has signed a six-year deal at Chelsea.
The club’s co-sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, praised Nkunku’s quality, creativity, and versatility.
The move is part of owner Todd Boehly’s eye-watering spending spree, with Chelsea having spent over £600 million under his ownership.
Boehly insists that the club is committed to the long term and will figure out how to win, following last season’s disappointing campaign which saw the sacking of Thomas Tuchel and successor Graham Potter.
