Wike Appoints New Chairman, Members for Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has appointed a new chairman and members for the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), just a month before his exit from office.

The new chairman, Justice Adolphus Enebeli (retd), was nominated for the RSIEC, along with six other members.

Justice Enebeli, who retired as a judge of the Rivers State High Court a month ago, was previously announced as the Chairman of RSIEC during a dinner organised to mark his retirement.

The nominees are expected to appear before the state’s lawmakers on May 2, 2023, for screening and approval.

RSIEC is responsible for conducting elections for the local government chairmen and councillors in all the local council areas.
