The Xbox Series X is the fourth generation of the Microsoft Xbox and here is it specs and price in Nigeria.
This console is an upcoming console which has been announced since 2019.
It is however scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter of this year.
But what exactly is the Series X and what’s so special about it?
Well, this is what we intend discussing in this article. So grab a seat and spend the next few minutes consuming this content.
XBox Series X Price in Nigeria 2020
Series X from Xbox is expected to sell for about $500 which is about 180,000 Naira. So we see no reason why you shouldn’t consider it.
Xbox Series X Explained
The Series X, as we have already stated, is the next generation of the Microsoft Xbox.
This console is unlike any console you’ve ever seen from Microsoft.
According to Microsoft, this console would be more powerful than the Xbox One.
And from what we’ve seen so far, there’s no doubt about how powerful the Series X is.
This console comes with chipsets that are pretty different from what you’ve seen in any Xbox.
But before we delve into details about the console’s hardware, let’s quickly give a summary of its hardware.
- Special CPU based on the AMD Zen 2 processor [8 cores, 3.80 GHz]
- Special GPU based on the AMD Radeon RDNA 2 GPU [52 compute units; 1.825 GHz; 8K; 120 Hz]
- 1 TB storage [2.4 GB/s I/O speed; NVMe SSD]
- 16 GB RAM [GDDR6; SDRAM]
- Optical disk drive
- 1 HDMI input
If you’re the kind who has some technical knowledge of computers, you’d have no problem seeing how epic the Xbox series would be.
First and foremost, with the kind of CPU featured by this console, there would be an incredible boost to the performance of the Xbox.
And not only that, such a processor would also mean we’d start seeing the appearance of more advanced games on the Xbox platform.
The GPU [graphics card] featured by the Series X is another impressive thing about the console.
This GPU is similar to what’s in the Sony PlayStation 5, and this GPU promises to blow your mind.
The GPU features a lot of engines in it. And in simpler terms, this means we can start to expect more graphically advanced games on the Xbox platform.
However, even though the GPU featured by this console comes with 52 compute units, it contains more than that.
According to Microsoft, the console comes with a total of 56 compute units, but 4 of them are disabled by default.
In other words, it’s safe to say the Series X features a total of 3,584 processing cores.
But if we’re to simply go with the default 52 computes units, the Series X can be stated to have a total of 3,328 cores.
Also, for those who are interested in resolutions like 4K and 8K, the upcoming Xbox is guaranteed not to disappoint here. It has been confirmed that this console would have support for these resolutions.
The storage featured by Series X is another thing worthwhile of talking about. And one of the things that make it worthwhile of talking about, is that it’s an SSD storage.
SSD storages are starting to become a standard for the gaming industry, and Microsoft has done a good job in this aspect.
The storage comes with 1 TB of storage space. And thanks to the fact that it features a compression system, the actual amount of things you can store on this storage would be far more than 1 TB.
Another incredible thing about the Series X, is its I/O speed.
The storage of the Series X, has an I/O speed of about 2.4 GB/s. This is clearly not as high as that of the PS5, but come on, an I/O speed of this value is mind-blowing.
GPU ~ How it Improve Gaming
We understand some of you reading this article wouldn’t know much about computers.
And all the jargon we’ve been saying wouldn’t probably make much sense to you.
And since we wouldn’t love to leave our readers with a vague idea of what the Series X has to offer, we’d like to break down our jargon into much simpler terms.
You see, in every console, there exist something things we call the GPU.
A GPU can be seen as a group of people carrying out activities that help produce the graphics you see on the screen.
And these people inside the GPU, are technically known as compute units.
In the Xbox One, we have a GPU which comes with a total of 12 compute units. But as for the Series X, we have a total of 52 compute units.
Can you imagine what that means? If you have 12 football players playing against another 52 football players, can you imagine what the result would be?
But the amount of compute units in this console isn’t the only impressive thing about it, the compute units also happen to have more features and are also way faster than those in the Xbox One.
In other words, the graphics performance of the new XBox, would be mind-blowing.
But that’s still not everything the Series X GPU has to offer. While the Xbox One only has support for 720p and 1,080p graphics, the Series X comes supports resolutions way higher than this.
The Series X comes with support for 720p, 1,080p, 4K, and 8k resolutions. And what this means is that you can even enjoy sharper graphics, when playing games on the Series X.
It is however important to state that a display [TV or monitor] supporting these high resolutions would be needed to enjoy the resolutions.
For instance, if you’d like to experience the Xbox at its 4k resolution, then you’d have to get a display which is 4k-ready.
RAM & SSD Storage
The GPU featured in the upcoming Xbox is not only thing worthwhile of being broken down.
Some other things we should break down, are the main memory and storage of the console.
In a computing device [which may be a game console], there’s a thing we call RAM or main memory. And you must have already heard about it.
But what exactly is it, and how can it improve gaming?
Well, computing devices need to be able to store things.
And to store whatever they need to store, we often put storage devices in them.
But unfortunately, storage devices are much slower than CPUs. In other words, a storage device is capable of wasting a CPU’s time.
But to do something about the slow speed of storage devices, engineers created a special kind of storage device they call RAM. RAMs are extremely fast, compared to storage devices.
And since RAMs are expensive to produce, we can only produce them in small sizes, so that computers can use them to store things they’d often need.
Since the normal storage devices are not expensive to produce, we can produce them in big sizes.
And your computer stores all the other things it doesn’t need very often, in its slower storage.
In other words, having a large RAM can significantly improve the performance of a computing device, since there would be lesser need to interact with the slow storage device.
Microsoft has done an incredible job in this aspect. While the Xbox One featured a 3 GB GDDR3 RAM, the Series X comes with a 16 GB GDDR6 RAM.
In other words, the Series X has a RAM which is larger and even faster than that of the Xbox One.
But just as you have seen, the aspect of RAM isn’t the only aspect where Microsoft has made improvement.
Microsoft also happens to have done an excellent job when it comes to permanent storage.
Series X comes with an SSD storage which is way faster than the storage of the Xbox One.
But even though this storage is not as fast as a RAM, having a faster storage can drastically improve the performance of games.
In other words, when your Xbox has to deal with its permanent storage, it wouldn’t have to spend as long as it would have spent, had it been the storage isn’t an SSD storage.
And not only is the storage of the Series X faster, it also happens to be twice as large as that of the Xbox One.
This console comes with an SSD storage of 1 TB [1,000 GB]. But as for those who still find this storage size to be inadequate, the Microsoft upcoming Xbox comes with support for storage expansion.
In other words, you can add an additional storage to the console. You can furthermore use the USB ports of this console to attach a hard drive to the console.
The new Xbox is yet to be out, but we have confirmed that a number of games are currently being developed for the console as stated below.
Series X Games
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Gears 5
- Gods & Monsters
- Halo Infinite
- Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Quarantine
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Six Siege
- The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
- Ultimate Fishing Simulator 2
- Watch Dogs: Legion.
All these games listed above, have promised to take full advantage of the power of Series X.
In other words, expect more realistic graphics from these games.
And you should also expect better sounds from them.
But even though we’ve been promised the Series X sound would be better, they may not be as epic as what we expect from the PS5.
Another thing worthwhile of stating about the Series X, is that it’s backward-compatible.
Microsoft has promised this. In other words, you should be able to start enjoying this console, right from the time it gets released.
But even though the performance of Xbox One games would improve, when playing them on the Xbox Series X, this doesn’t mean they’d be taking full advantage of the power of the upcoming Xbox.
And not only would the Series X be backward-compatible with the Xbox One, it’d also be backward-compatible with some games of the much older generations of this console.
So all much older games that work on the Xbox One, would also be playable on the Series X.
When the Xbox Series X gets released, towards the end of this year, it would be one of the best things Microsoft has ever done.
And if you’ve never tried out an Xbox, it would be worthwhile trying out this console.
