YouTube Reinstates Trump’s Account, but Adds New Rules

YouTube has lifted the two-year suspension on Donald Trump’s channel, allowing him to upload new content.

The decision came after careful evaluation to ensure that any residual risk of real-world violence had decreased.

Despite the restoration of his channel, it is still subject to all existing YouTube policies, same as with any other account.

Shortly after the announcement, some users began posting “welcome back” messages on Trump’s past clips.

This follows a similar move by other social media outlets such as Facebook and Instagram Recon Media earlier this year.

Additionally, Twitter CEO Elon Musk welcomed Trump back in October 2020 when he asked followers in a poll if they wanted him reinstated; around 52% voted in favour.

Trump is yet to post on either platform and instead turned to his own outlet Truth Social, where he shared several videos claiming he should have won the presidential election in 2020 but it was stolen from him.
