Globacom, Nigeria’s telecom giant, has rolled out a new data pricing structure. This change comes after the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) approved telecom tariff adjustments.
According to Legit.ng, the updated plans affect daily, weekly, and monthly options. Some plans saw a price increase, while others experienced data reductions.
The new pricing structure affects popular bundles like the N100 and N200 daily plans, which have been downgraded. For example, the N100 plan now offers only 105MB instead of 150MB.
Weekly plans also changed. The old 1.8GB plan for N500 has been replaced with 1.5GB for a shorter 7-day duration.
Monthly plans across the board have seen a decrease in data volumes. For instance, the N1,000 plan now gives 2.6GB, down from the previous 3.9GB, representing a 33% drop.
Some mega plans have also been affected. The N5,000 plan, which used to offer 24GB, now provides 16GB, a reduction of 8GB.
Globacom is also offering a 200% data bonus for every MiFi device purchased. New customers who register with a Glo SIM will receive the bonus, making this a valuable offer for those buying a MiFi device.
Subscribers can purchase the MiFi device for N14,999 at Gloworld outlets across Nigeria.
Glo’s data pricing update comes shortly after similar changes from other telecom providers, such as MTN, which adjusted its plans and rates.
The new data tariffs are part of a broader shift in the telecom sector as operators look to improve infrastructure while balancing cost increases.
