This review centres on TECNO’s move from the 4G CAMON Slim to the CAMON Slim 5G, while the 6.39mm body remains unchanged. The 5G model introduces changes across the chipset, battery, display, camera system, durability and software.
The new model pairs 5G connectivity with MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300e platform. That hardware gives the handset a different processing and network configuration from the 4G version, while TECNO retains the same thin chassis.
The battery moves from 5,600mAh to 6,000mAh, adding about 7.1% capacity. At the same time, charging drops from 60W to 45W, creating a clear trade-off between battery capacity and charging speed.
Durability receives a major specification upgrade through IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. TECNO also lists MIL-STD-810 certification and TÜV SÜD certification covering 60 months of sustained fluidity, extending the phone’s hardware credentials beyond its thin construction.
The display retains the 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel and 144Hz refresh rate found on the 4G model, but the 5G version switches from a curved screen to a flat panel. Rain Touch, Waterproof Case Touch and Wet & Oily Hand Touch Recognition 2.0 continue to address screen use in wet conditions.
The rear design changes with the camera system. TECNO removes the 4G model’s camera bar and AI Mood Light and adopts a vertical arrangement with the swan-neck design used across the CAMON 50 line.
The main camera moves to Sony’s LYTIA 700C in a 1/1.56-type format, compared with the 1/2-type LYT-600 in the 4G model. The larger sensor format gives the 5G version a different main-camera platform while TECNO maintains the 6.39mm body.
Portrait photography covers 24mm, 35mm and 50mm focal lengths, while Super-Zoom FlashSnap targets fast-moving subjects. Both models retain 32MP selfie cameras.
The colour selection combines returning finishes with new options. Neo Mondrian and Van Gogh Blue carry over, while Burgundy Red, Rebel Pink and Matisse Black expand the 5G model’s range.
The software moves to HiOS 16 based on Android 16 and includes TECNO’s AI tools. TECNO promises five years of security updates and three major Android OS upgrades.
TECNO has not announced specific pricing for the CAMON Slim 5G, although the handset will reach multiple markets with local prices announced separately. Selected markets will receive a three-month Google AI Plus trial with 2TB of storage at no extra cost.
Across the hardware, the 5G model retains the 6.39mm body and 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED display while introducing a new chipset, larger battery, slower charging system, flat display, revised rear design, larger-format main camera sensor and updated software.
