Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, known as Jandor, has opened up about his decision to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after leaving the party in 2022. During his visit to the APC state secretariat in Ikeja, Lagos, Jandor made it clear that he was rejoining the party to help secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
According to a report by Ikenna Ngere on May 1, 2025, Jandor expressed his desire to combat the growing coalition efforts against President Tinubu’s chances in the upcoming election. “We must defend our own. Our priority is to ensure President Tinubu’s return in 2027. Every other matter is secondary,” he said.
Jandor’s return to APC comes after a strategic departure in 2022, when he joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expand his political influence. Reflecting on his earlier defection, Jandor explained that he was seeking a platform to demonstrate his political capability.
The move was greeted warmly by APC leaders, including the state chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, who said the reunion was vital for strengthening the party’s chances in the next election. “With you back, we can erase that record and deliver across all levels,” he remarked, referring to the party’s performance in the 2023 elections.
Although Jandor has not yet declared his candidacy for the 2027 Lagos governorship race, he remains open to the possibility if the party supports his bid. He stressed that his priority was to contribute to the success of President Tinubu’s campaign.
With his return to the APC, Jandor is bringing with him political clout that could potentially influence the party’s prospects in Lagos and beyond. His re-entry into the party underscores the strategic nature of his political decisions and his ongoing commitment to Nigerian politics.
