Jim Ratcliffe Axes More Manchester United Chiefs in Shake-up

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s shake-up at Manchester United continues with more senior figures on the chopping block. Reports suggest that Richard Hawkins, director of football insights and innovations, and David Harrison, director of football operations, are the next to face the axe.

According to The Athletic, Hawkins and Harrison have been informed that their jobs are at risk. These changes come after Ratcliffe’s initial rounds of job cuts, which have already affected hundreds of staff members at the club.

Ratcliffe has been slashing jobs across multiple departments since his investment in Manchester United last year. His aim is to streamline operations and direct funds toward improving the squad under manager Ruben Amorim.

“Where do you want to spend the money? Do you want to spend it on operating the club, or do you want to spend it on the squad? Because if you spend it on the squad you get better results,” Ratcliffe said in a recent interview.

The latest round of job cuts is expected to affect another 200 employees, reducing the workforce by a third. The decision has raised eyebrows, with many questioning whether the savings will truly translate into on-field success.
