The Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, said that the 2023 elections were an improvement from previous outings.
Admitting that the elections were imperfect, Mr. Femi said that efforts of 9th Assembly helped produce an election all can “be proud of.”
He called on INEC and other stakeholders to review the elections, towards better subsequent elections.
Mr. Femi also highlighted the need to pass the Electoral Offences Act into law.
The bill, the Speaker says, seeks punishment for electoral offenders and build further confidence in the polls.
Mr. Speaker emphasizes that the 9th Assembly of the House of Representatives will work to pass the bill before the next Assembly is inaugurated.
