The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing potential defections as key members of the party consider leaving.

It is reported that many members are willing to accept appointments from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has promised a government of national unity.

Following the PDP’s loss in the 2023 presidential election to President Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party has been trying to prevent further internal conflicts.

Former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has already accepted a ministerial position in the Tinubu administration and has been screened by the Senate.

Another prominent member, Senate Anyim Pius Anyim, is believed to be planning to join former governor of Ebonyi State, Senator David Umahi, in the APC.

Anyim recently met with the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, but the outcome of the meeting is unknown.

However, sources suggest that Anyim is likely to join the ruling party.

During the previous general election, Anyim supported the APC candidate for governor in Ebonyi State, rather than his own party’s candidate.

It is unclear whether he supported the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during the presidential election.

Anyim has also had a meeting with President Tinubu, leading to speculation about a potential switch to the APC.
