Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has been excluded from the club’s pre-season tour in the United States, indicating uncertainty about his future at Stamford Bridge.

Despite being with Chelsea since the age of eight, the 25-year-old made 17 appearances last season, notably impressing under Mauricio Pochettino after returning from injury.

He was initially part of pre-season under new head coach Enzo Maresca, but right-footed centre-backs Wesley Fofana, Alex Disasi, and recent signing Tosin Adarabioyo have been preferred.

Chalobah’s omission from the pre-season squad shows Chelsea’s intent to sell him and this isn’t the first time he’s been made available.

Last year, a proposed loan to Bayern Munich fell through, and a move to Nottingham Forest was rejected on deadline day.

Despite his popularity in the dressing room and determination to compete for a place, Chalobah appears likely to depart, with a preference for a club competing in European football.

Manchester United has shown interest, viewing Chalobah as a potential second centre-back signing after acquiring Leny Yoro from Lille.

His versatility to play at right-back could be valuable, especially if Aaron Wan-Bissaka moves to West Ham United.

Newcastle United is reportedly interested due to defensive needs exacerbated by Jamaal Lascelles’ injury, although they lack European football next season.

Fulham is keen on Chalobah as well, offering a London stay following Adarabioyo’s departure to Chelsea, although he may need to reconsider his club criteria.

Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan are also monitoring the situation.
