Nigerian music legend 2Baba has broken his silence on his split from longtime wife Annie Idibia, admitting they both gave the marriage their all, NaijNaira can report.
Speaking on the 234 Mzansi Podcast, 2Baba shared rare details about the breakup, while avoiding specifics out of respect. NaijNaira had earlier reported their separation, which became public in January 2025, after over 12 years of marriage.
“She’s an amazing woman,” 2Baba said, “but it just wasn’t working anymore.”
He stressed that no one should remain in a relationship out of fear or pressure. “Only people in the marriage know what they’re feeling,” he said. “Living in bondage is real. Don’t torture yourself just to please society.”
While reflecting on the marriage, 2Baba also shared his unfiltered thoughts on sexual monogamy. “A man is not built to sexually be with one woman,” he claimed. “His heart, love, and respect can be with one woman. But biologically? It’s impossible.”
He added that acknowledging this reality could reduce heartbreak and emotional stress. “So many heartaches could be avoided if we just accept this fact,” he said.
2Baba and Annie married in 2012 and share children together. Following the split, the singer proposed to Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, in February 2025.
His comments have stirred mixed reactions online, with fans debating his view on relationships and emotional honesty.
