Manchester United are pushing hard to sign Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens, with personal terms already close to being finalized – www.naijnaira.com reports.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that negotiations between United and Antwerp are ongoing, with the 23-year-old Belgian keeper prepared to make the switch.

Lammens, who has already represented Belgium at youth level and received senior call-ups earlier this year, has played nearly 65 matches for Antwerp and earned a reputation as one of the brightest young goalkeepers outside Europe’s top five leagues.

The Belgian stopper gained attention last season with an impressive save percentage of 81.4, far higher than Manchester United’s current No.1 Andre Onana, who posted 68.7 during the same period.

His command of aerial balls also stands out, having dealt with more crosses than Premier League stars like Alisson Becker and Jordan Pickford.

Lammens has built a reputation as a penalty specialist too, saving five spot kicks in just over a year, the most across Europe’s top 10 leagues.

United’s goalkeeper situation has become urgent after Onana missed the season opener against Arsenal due to injury, leaving backup Altay Bayindir to start.

Bayindir struggled badly at Old Trafford, misjudging a corner that nearly resulted in an own goal before Riccardo Calafiori bundled the ball over the line.

That performance added pressure on manager Ruben Amorim, who had previously insisted he was “happy with the three goalkeepers” at the club.

Club legends Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney have publicly urged United to bring in reinforcements, with Neville even naming PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma as an ideal signing.

While Donnarumma remains on Manchester City’s radar, United are working quickly to ensure Lammens doesn’t slip away, especially with City now considering him as a cheaper alternative.

Reports suggest Antwerp want between €15–20 million (£13–17.3m) for their young keeper, a fee United may be willing to meet before the transfer window closes.

Over the past few months, United have lost several targets to rival Premier League sides, including James Trafford to City, Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal, and Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool.

The club has brought in players like Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, but the failure to land other key names has frustrated supporters.

Lammens has already given the green light for the move to Old Trafford, signaling his willingness to compete for a starting role despite the presence of Onana and Bayindir.

If the deal goes through, the young Belgian could challenge for a first-team spot immediately and provide United with much-needed stability at the back.

With the transfer deadline days away, the pressure is firmly on Manchester United to seal the deal before City or another suitor swoops in.
