The Nigerian Army has confirmed the arrest of Ifeanyi Eze Okorienta, a feared commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network, better known as Gentle de Yahoo – www.naijnaira.com reports.
He was captured during a raid on his hideout in Aku-Ihube, Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State in a coordinated operation involving the 34 Artillery Brigade and other security forces.
According to the Nigerian Army’s official statement, troops recovered a cache of weapons and items such as an English-made pistol, over 140 rounds of live ammunition, a cartridge, police and military uniforms, six mobile phones, and even a German flag.
The raid also exposed a workshop used for dismantling stolen vehicles, while ten motorcycles at the site were destroyed by troops.
In the same sweep of operations, soldiers rescued twelve kidnap victims in three states, including five in Adamawa, another five in Katsina, and two in Kogi.
Troops in Borno also thwarted an ambush attempt along the Baga–Cross Kauwa supply route, neutralising eight fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province during a heavy exchange of fire.
The Army said those killed included “two Munzirs and one Qaid,” describing the raid as a decisive strike against terrorist leadership.
Security officials explained that these simultaneous actions were aimed at disrupting armed groups and restoring safety across troubled regions.
The military stressed its commitment to protecting civilians and sustaining pressure on networks of terrorists, kidnappers, and insurgents nationwide.
