Professor Uyi Akpata has once again been chosen to lead the Nigeria Cricket Federation after a unanimous election victory in Abuja — www.naijnaira.com reports.
The contest was held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, and he clinched all 47 votes cast without opposition, a result that underscored his influence and popularity.
Daily Trust reports that Wale Obalola equally retained his position as Vice President after polling the same number of votes, running unchallenged.
Other winners include Chika Okoro for South East, Tayo Atoloye for South West, Ladan Usman for North West, Femi John for South South, Dare Aimola for North Central, and Zainab Ishaku Adamu for North East.
Technical Representative Olumide Akintokun, Player’s Representative Endurance Ofem, Sponsor’s Representative Chuma Anosike, Prof. Mariam Suleiman for NAWIS, and Major Monica Wuballa for the Military and Paramilitary completed the team.
After the election, Akpata described his re-election as a renewed call to service, saying, “This is not a one-man journey—it will take all of us working together.”
He stressed that cricket has made progress but insisted the major work lies ahead with a clear focus on implementation of new programs.
One of his main strategies is the creation of zonal cricket associations that will engage directly with state governments while driving structured grassroots development.
Akpata’s 10-point plan also emphasizes infrastructure expansion, high-performance centers, school cricket initiatives, youth engagement, gender inclusion, and international partnerships.
The agenda will also focus on training coaches and officials to build technical capacity across the federation.
