Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and Abia State Governor Alex Otti were among the political heavyweights who joined family and friends to celebrate the wedding of Dr. Chikamkpa Amaechi, son of Rotimi Amaechi, in Abuja on Saturday – www.naijnaira.com reports.
The ceremony, covered by Daily Post, attracted a long list of prominent names including former Senate President David Mark, Dame Patience Jonathan, Dolapo Osinbajo, and ex-Plateau Governor Simon Lalong.
The service was officiated by Rev. Fr. Steve Dedua, who reminded the couple that marriage was God’s plan from the beginning. “What God has joined together, let no man or woman put asunder,” he declared in his homily.
He called on Dr. Chikamkpa Amaechi and his bride Anita Nwabueze to keep their relationship rooted in faith and patience.
Rev. Dedua also raised alarm over growing divorce rates across the world, noting a 2023 survey that placed Nigeria 11th on the global ranking.
He advised the newlyweds to rise above societal pressures and stay committed to their vows.
At the reception, Governor Otti encouraged the couple to maintain open communication and resolve disputes peacefully.
The Abuja church wedding followed their traditional marriage held a week earlier.
