The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary — www.naijnaira.com reports.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who spoke on behalf of the government while conveying the message to citizens.
Naija News reports that the statement was signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, confirming the declaration.
In his remarks, Tunji-Ojo congratulated Nigerians both at home and abroad, describing the independence anniversary as a significant national milestone.
He called on the people to remain committed to unity, patriotism, and resilience, values he said have kept the country moving forward since 1960.
The Minister also urged citizens to believe in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which he explained focuses on rebirth, prosperity, and economic transformation.
“Together, with the cooperation of every Nigerian, our nation will continue to thrive in peace, progress, and development,” the Minister stated.
Tunji-Ojo concluded by wishing all Nigerians a joyful and memorable Independence Day celebration as the country marks 65 years of freedom.
