Karim Benzema, the former Real Madrid striker, has signed a two-year deal with Saudi Pro League team Al-Ittihad for an eye-watering reported salary of £172 million per season, making him one of the highest-paid athletes in history.
The Frenchman’s move to Saudi Arabia has seen his wage increase almost 12 times from the £14.5 million per season he was reportedly earning at Real Madrid.
