Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has given an update on the fitness of defender Ibrahima Konate ahead of their Premier League match against Manchester City.
Konate suffered an injury during Liverpool’s 5-1 victory over Sparta Prague in the Europa League last-16 tie.
Following a quick break from the hosts, Konate pulled up and had to be substituted, with Virgil van Dijk coming on in his place.
Joe Gomez was also substituted at half-time, but Klopp assured that Gomez’s withdrawal was purely precautionary and he should be fine.
However, the Liverpool boss expressed concern about Konate’s injury and stated that the defender would need to be assessed before the weekend clash against Manchester City.
Klopp revealed that Konate had expressed his fear of getting injured if he continued playing.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Konate’s availability, Klopp remained optimistic and stated that they would find a solution.
