Former governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia, has strongly criticized the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, urging him to let go of his insatiable desire for power and greed, and allow Governor Siminalayi Fubara to carry out his duties.
Omehia believes that Wike’s relentless pursuit of power is causing him distress and instability.
In response to a recent live television interview hosted by Wike in Abuja, Omehia expressed his views in a statement sent to NaijNaira.
During the media parley, Wike referred to Uche Secondus, Senator George Sekibo, and other leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State as “expired politicians and buccaneers” due to their support for Fubara.
Omehia characterized Wike’s uncontrolled outbursts as the result of a confused mind, stating that Wike’s anger stems from the failure of his ambition for a third term and the realization by the people of Rivers State that his pursuit of power is purely personal and not in the interest of the state or the South-South region, as he claims.
According to Omehia, “The FCT Minister thought he could continue to control and exploit the resources and governance of the state, but God, through the people, resisted the impeachment plot by his members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.”
Omehia further criticized Wike for his habitual lies, disrespect towards elders, and his tendency to speak out of both sides of his mouth.
He emphasized that his own commitment to the growth and development of his state and country remains unwavering, despite Wike’s attempts to tarnish his reputation.
Expressing his bewilderment, Omehia questioned why Wike was so bothered by their support for the governor and the federal government under President Tinubu.
He also questioned Wike’s desire to perpetuate political warfare, even long after elections have concluded and governance has commenced.
Omehia advised Wike to focus on his responsibilities in Abuja, as the state does not miss his presence or his disruptive behavior. He believes that Wike’s excessive behavior, inconsistencies, and delusions have reached a shameful peak.
