President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not run for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, according to a close ally of former Transportation Minister, Chibuike Amaechi. Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, shared this opinion while speaking on the rising political interest surrounding Amaechi.
According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria, Eze said the political scene could be unpredictable, especially if the United States decides to release alleged files related to the President. He added that there is growing national concern over the current state of the country, which many feel the government has failed to address.
Eze mentioned that he receives frequent inquiries from citizens about Amaechi’s political direction and whether he plans to contest in 2027. He believes the public’s interest in Amaechi stems from frustration over insecurity, economic hardship, and a lack of accountability.
“The likes of Amaechi are needed in the scene in order to assuage the suffering and rescue Nigeria from her present precarious State,” Eze stated. He also said that Amaechi remains a respected figure due to his record in public service.
He criticized the current administration, accusing it of focusing more on retaining power than fixing the country’s problems. According to him, this approach goes against the principles of leadership and democracy.
Eze suggested that if conditions remain unchanged and the alleged foreign file is made public, President Tinubu may not be in a position to seek reelection. He concluded that many Nigerians are calling on Amaechi to step forward due to the urgency of the situation.
