Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen may remain at Napoli beyond the summer transfer window, despite growing interest from several top clubs across Europe.
The 26-year-old forward was expected to leave the Serie A side after a prolific loan spell at Galatasaray. However, no club has yet met his €75 million release clause, leaving a potential exit in limbo.
Osimhen reignited transfer interest following a stunning season in Turkey, scoring 36 goals and delivering eight assists in 40 appearances. His performances helped Galatasaray secure both the Turkish Super Cup and the Turkish Super Lig titles.
Despite links to clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Paris Saint-Germain, and Al-Hilal, Osimhen appears to be holding out for a Premier League move. ESPN reports he even turned down Juventus for that reason.
Still, a transfer remains uncertain. Italian outlet Il Mattino reports that Napoli might be forced to lower their valuation as other European clubs shift focus to more budget-friendly striker options. Arsenal are now eyeing Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP, Manchester United are monitoring Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap, while Chelsea could target Brighton’s João Pedro.
Chelsea remains a potential destination for Osimhen, though formal talks have yet to begin. The Blues are also looking to offload Christopher Nkunku, which could pave the way for a move.
Whatever decision is made, Osimhen’s impact at Galatasaray won’t be forgotten. He capped off his loan with major domestic trophies and a return to top form. “He turned down Juventus because he wants to play in the Premier League,” a source told ESPN.
