Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that his time with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr is coming to an end. The Portuguese star declared, “This chapter is over,” in a social media post shared shortly after the conclusion of the Saudi Pro League season.
According to a report by Reuters, Ronaldo posted the message alongside a photo of himself in an Al-Nassr jersey, adding: “The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”
The 40-year-old joined Al-Nassr in 2022 after his departure from Manchester United. His current contract expires this summer, leaving fans and analysts speculating on what comes next for one of football’s most iconic figures.
Ronaldo Finishes as Saudi League Top Scorer
Despite Al-Nassr’s inability to secure the league title, Ronaldo had a standout season, topping the Saudi Pro League scoring chart with 24 goals. The club finished third in the standings and was eliminated in the semifinals of the Asian Champions League by Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale.
Although he previously expressed intentions to retire at Al-Nassr, recent developments suggest otherwise. The club will not participate in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, unlike local rivals Al-Hilal.
Could Ronaldo Feature at the Club World Cup?
FIFA president Gianni Infantino recently mentioned that discussions are ongoing regarding Ronaldo’s potential involvement in the Club World Cup, which begins on June 14 in the United States. A special transfer window from June 1–10 has been set for the 32 participating teams to sign players.
In a YouTube interview with streamer IShowSpeed, Infantino said:
“There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup … who knows, who knows.”
This comment has added fuel to the speculation surrounding Ronaldo’s next move. Meanwhile, his longtime rival Lionel Messi is confirmed to play in the tournament with Inter Miami.
What’s Next for Ronaldo?
As one of football’s most prolific forwards, Ronaldo’s next step remains uncertain. Whether it involves a short-term move for the Club World Cup or another challenge altogether, his career story clearly isn’t over yet.
