Sheffield United have completed their first summer transfer, securing the signature of Nigerian winger Ehije Ukaki. The 20-year-old forward arrives at Bramall Lane after a promising spell in Bulgaria’s top division.
According to The Star, Ukaki joins the Blades from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv, where he impressed last season with his attacking contributions. The transfer marks Sheffield United’s continued interest in young talent, following their earlier recruitment of Christian Nwachukwu from the same club in January.
Ukaki caught attention after scoring seven goals in just eight league matches last season, including a crucial winning goal in a derby against Lokomotive Plovdiv. He also featured in the Europa League and the UEFA Conference League, adding international experience to his growing profile.
“Sheffield United are a big club with a strong project and I’m excited to be part of it,” Ukaki said, expressing his excitement about the new chapter in his career.
The winger has signed a contract that will keep him at Sheffield United until the summer of 2028, pending final approval of his documentation.
Ukaki joins through COH Sports’ data-focused recruitment system, which has shaped recent additions to the team. Jefferson Cáceres and Christian Nwachukwu, both part of this strategy, made their moves to Bramall Lane in January.
Fans will be eager to see how Ukaki integrates into the squad as preparations continue for the upcoming season. Sheffield United’s pre-season friendlies have already been scheduled, giving supporters a chance to watch the club’s newest signing in action soon.
