Nollywood actor and comedian Jigan Babaoja has shared his personal story of overcoming body-shaming, insults, and mockery.
According to Oyinmomo TV, Jigan, whose real name is Abimbola Kazeem, revealed that he began building mental strength to face body-shaming as early as eight years old.
He recalled being called hurtful names by other children while growing up.
Jigan said he never allowed those words to break him and always believed in his ability to live fully.
He explained that despite his physical condition, he can run, jump, and play football just like anyone else.
“The only time I know I am living with disability is when I look into the mirror,” Jigan said.
He shared that he removed negative thoughts from his mind many years ago and now lives with confidence and pride.
“I can literally do everything,” he added, mentioning that he even feels he performs better than a two-legged person in private matters.
Jigan encouraged people living with disabilities to embrace self-love and find strength within themselves.
“My advice to people like me is that they should observe my life,” he said.
He added, “Before you abuse me, I would have abused myself. There is nothing anyone can say to me that would pain me. They should accept that that is how God does his thing.”
Jigan became widely known in 2012 after his role in Baba Tee’s movie Ijewuru.
He later gained more public attention in 2018 with the viral ‘So Mo Age Mi’ social media challenge.
