SUGA, a member of the world-famous K-pop group BTS, is set to officially complete his mandatory military service on Saturday, NaijNaira can report.

Reports confirm that SUGA’s service will officially end at 11:59:59 pm, according to BTS’s agency HYBE and South Korea’s Military Manpower Administration.

SUGA served as a social service agent and effectively wrapped up his duties on Wednesday after using his remaining leave.

“Above all else, I wanted to sincerely thank our fans who waited for me all this time,” SUGA shared with BTS’s global fanbase, ARMY, on Weverse.

“I’ve missed you so much,” he said in his heartfelt message.

BTS has been on a break from group activities since 2022 when all members began their military service in South Korea.

Before their enlistment, BTS contributed over 5.5 trillion won (about $4 billion) in annual economic value, according to the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute.

Industry experts expect HYBE’s profits to grow next year as BTS prepares for a large-scale comeback tour.

“The importance of BTS’s reunion to HYBE, K-pop, and South Korea at large cannot be overstated,” Grace Kao, a sociology professor at Yale University, told AFP.

She believes the group’s next tour could be their biggest yet.

BTS’s global presence remains strong, with RM recently attending Art Basel in Switzerland as Samsung Art TV’s global ambassador, while V was seen at a piano recital in Seoul.

SUGA also apologized again on Saturday for his 2024 scooter incident, sharing his regret with fans on Weverse.

“I’ll do my best to repay the love you’ve given me — now more than ever,” he promised.
