Olufemi Soneye has officially resigned from his role as Chief Corporate Communications Officer at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Ltd, after 20 months of service, NaijNaira can report.

The Guardian reported that Soneye confirmed his resignation in a heartfelt message sent to colleagues and key stakeholders.

“I sincerely thank you all for the steadfast support, professionalism, and genuine dedication you’ve shown in promoting the NNPC Ltd brand,” Soneye expressed in his farewell note.

He appreciated his team’s strong efforts in building NNPC Ltd’s image and expanding its communication efforts across different platforms.

Sharing the reason behind his decision, Soneye said he needed to focus on his family and attend to personal matters that now require his full attention.

“This step will allow me to spend more time with my family and handle personal responsibilities that need me now,” he said.

Soneye described his time with NNPC Ltd as an enriching journey filled with valuable experiences and growth.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunities I received and for working with outstanding professionals within and outside the organisation,” he added.

Even after stepping down, Soneye pledged to continue supporting NNPC Ltd and encouraged media professionals to maintain honest and balanced reporting on the company’s work.

“I will always stand as a supporter and ambassador of NNPC Ltd wherever I go,” he said.

At this time, NNPC Ltd has not announced who will take over the position.
