Multichoice Nigeria has cut the price of its DStv decoder by 50%, dropping it from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000, in a bold move to attract customers and counter subscriber loss, NaijNaira can report.

Between 2023 and 2025, Multichoice Nigeria saw a sharp drop of 1.4 million subscribers, according to Nairametrics.

To win back viewers, the company launched a new offer starting June 16 through July 31, 2025.

Subscribers who renew their current package in full during this window will automatically receive a free upgrade to the next bouquet tier.

Multichoice describes the move as a way to ease the financial burden Nigerians are facing.

“By repositioning itself as a platform for daily value, DStv aims to encourage content discovery across a wider array of genres,” the company said.

The campaign, titled “We’ve Got You,” is open to both active and returning subscribers.

“This means more channels, more shows, and more reasons to tune in every day,” DStv added in its official statement.

CEO John Ugbe emphasized that the offer was all about giving back to loyal customers.

“We want to ensure our customers feel appreciated and have access to the best entertainment every day,” Ugbe said.

He stressed that the platform isn’t just about sports fans, but caters to everyone.

Multichoice Group’s financial report shows Nigeria made up 77% of total subscriber losses in its Rest of Africa markets.

The company previously hiked its prices three times in just two years, citing inflation, power outages, and fuel shortages.
