Everton may be closing in on a cut-price move for Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi, as a newly reactivated £9 million release clause could bring him to Goodison Park, NaijNaira can report.
According to GiveMeSport, the Toffees have renewed their interest in the Nigerian midfielder, who was once linked with them during the previous transfer window.
Despite signing a new deal in July 2024 that ties him to Leicester until 2027, Ndidi’s contract includes a relegation-triggered release clause — one that’s now back in play following the Foxes’ drop to the Championship.
TalkSPORT had previously revealed the clause, estimating Ndidi’s price tag at just £9 million — a figure well within Everton’s budget.
Ndidi, 27, played 30 games for Leicester in the 2024–25 campaign, registering one goal and five assists, though his efforts couldn’t keep the team in the Premier League.
A move to Merseyside would see him follow in the footsteps of fellow Nigerian stars like Joseph Yobo, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, and Alex Iwobi — all of whom left their mark at Everton.
“Everton have always been a club Nigerians respect,” a fan commented online, reflecting the club’s long-standing relationship with Super Eagles talent.
Ndidi made his international debut in 2015 and remains a key part of Nigeria’s midfield ahead of the 2025 AFCON tournament.
If negotiations go through, Everton could land a midfield powerhouse with proven Premier League experience at a bargain price, adding fresh energy to their squad.
