Liverpool have made a bold move to land Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen with a high-value offer that mixes cash and star power, NaijNaira can report.
Soccernet.ng revealed that the Premier League champions proposed a deal involving €17 million in cash plus Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa to Napoli.
While the total package reaches around €135 million in value, Napoli weren’t fully convinced. Weekend Sports journalist Sebastien Vidal tweeted, “Napoli are listening, but want more.”
Vidal added that Liverpool’s move comes after hitting a wall with their attempt to sign Alexander Isak, pushing them to table this ambitious Osimhen bid instead.
Napoli’s hesitation isn’t surprising. Osimhen remains one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards after a strong loan spell at Galatasaray, scoring 37 goals in 41 appearances.
The €75 million release clause on Osimhen’s contract sets a high bar, but Liverpool’s offer may seem enticing on paper when the value of Nunez and Chiesa is factored in.
Nunez joined Liverpool in 2022 for €100 million, while Chiesa cost them €15 million last year, bringing the players’ combined cost to €115 million.
However, both stars have had underwhelming seasons at Anfield. Nunez managed just five goals in 30 games, while Chiesa failed to score in six league outings.
Despite the criticism, both players have strong international records, with Nunez capped 35 times for Uruguay and Chiesa 51 times for Italy.
It’s clear Napoli are holding out for more—and with Manchester United reportedly circling, the summer transfer drama is only heating up.
