Super Eagles veteran Kenneth Omeruo has congratulated the Super Falcons after their confident 3-1 win over Ghana in a WAFCON warm-up match, NaijNaira can report.
The game took place in Morocco, where Nigeria once again came out on top in the ever-fiery Jollof derby.
The Super Falcons sealed the win with goals from Asisat Oshoala, Chinwendu Ihezuo, and Rasheedat Ajibade, while Ghana’s Alice Kusi grabbed a lone reply.
With the win, Nigeria extended their Jollof derby dominance to three straight victories across both men’s and women’s national teams.
Omeruo, Nigeria’s longest-serving centre-back, took to Instagram to applaud the women’s side, posting a team photo with the caption: “Well done girls.”
The Falcons now shift focus to the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco, where they kick off their tournament on July 6 against Tunisia.
Their next matches in the group stage will see them face Botswana and Algeria, as they chase a record 10th continental title.
Omeruo, who debuted for the Super Eagles in 2013, has earned 69 international caps and was part of the squad that won the AFCON that same year.
At 31, he remains Nigeria’s longest-serving central defender, while teammate Ahmed Musa holds the record as the longest-serving player overall.
