Israel has agreed to a 60-day ceasefire deal in Gaza, with Donald Trump urging Hamas to accept what he called the only chance to stop the fighting, NaijNaira can report.
The development follows reports from the Associated Press, confirming that Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday for direct talks.
“I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better – IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE,” Trump said.
The proposed deal includes a temporary halt in hostilities, during which negotiations will focus on a permanent end to the war and the release of hostages.
Hamas has responded by saying it would free all hostages if Israel agrees to a full military withdrawal and complete end to the war in Gaza.
Israel, on the other hand, insists it will only stop the war if Hamas disarms, surrenders, and its leaders go into exile—conditions Hamas has firmly rejected.
Trump’s offer comes after months of increased American involvement in mediating talks between Israel and regional actors, including Iran.
Despite Hamas retaining the ability to launch attacks, US officials believe the group’s command structure has been severely damaged.
Trump’s repeated ultimatums are aimed at forcing Hamas into accepting longer ceasefires in exchange for humanitarian aid and prisoner releases.
This 60-day truce is presented as Trump’s final and best offer to bring temporary relief to civilians in Gaza and push both sides toward resolution.
