The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results for its mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted on Saturday, June 28, 2025, NaijNaira can report.

According to a statement from JAMB, 11,161 out of 96,838 scheduled candidates successfully sat for the mop-up test. Candidates unable to access their results had failed to correctly send “UTMERESULT” as a single text to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number linked to their UTME registration.

JAMB also gave an update on its investigation into a widespread fake admission letter syndicate. The scam came to light in April 2024 after JAMB and the Nigeria Police Force held a joint press briefing. Investigations led to the arrest of five key suspects by the Police Cybercrime Centre.

Those arrested confessed to forging admission letters for payment. Based on their testimony, 17,417 candidates were flagged. So far, JAMB has cleared 6,903 candidates after resolving minor discrepancies, while 10,514 remain under review.

Out of these, 5,669 candidates obtained fake letters outright. Another 4,832 had legitimate but unprocessed admissions, which they tried to shortcut by engaging the syndicate. Thirteen more were flagged for errors tied to their institutions, including FUTA, ESUT, BUK, EKSU, and YABATECH.

The board said 1,532 candidates were issued warnings and condoned, while 3,300 remain under investigation. JAMB warned that anyone caught working with fraudsters would face legal consequences under the Examination Malpractices Act.
