At 83, Harrison Ford has no intention of walking away from acting, even as he celebrates a first-time Emmy nomination—www.naijnaira.com reports.
Speaking with Variety, Ford opened up about his role in Shrinking, where he plays therapist Dr. Paul Rhoades, a character navigating life with Parkinson’s.
“It’s one of the few jobs where being older still means something,” he said, addressing the idea of retirement with a wry smile.
He wrapped the third season of Shrinking recently, closing it out with a tearful speech to the cast and crew, telling them, “You are the very, very best at what you do.”
The show pairs Ford with Jason Segel, whose character copes with grief by upending therapy norms and telling clients the blunt truth.
Despite critical acclaim and his Emmy nomination, Ford insists the award means little to how he views his work.
“I don’t see creativity as a competition,” he said plainly. “If people like it, good. If not, find something else.”
Ford’s wife, Calista Flockhart, who also holds Emmy credentials, continues to be his closest support off-camera.
They’ve been married since 2010 and raised their son Liam together, although they’ve never acted in the same project.
Asked about working with Flockhart, Ford admitted he’s open to it but added, “We’d prefer if it wasn’t our idea. Let the audience stay in the story.”
