The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) faced criticism for suspending their planned nationwide strike.

Public affairs commentator Deji Adeyanju accused the NLC of being compromised and betraying their cause.

The NLC had previously vowed to declare a strike on Wednesday, but ultimately called it off on Tuesday night along with the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

Adeyanju expressed disappointment in the decision, stating that compromise was likely due to the presence of protesters who appeared to be too comfortable in the Villa.

He also argued that the strike was suspended without achieving anything, and that hunger can hinder the effectiveness of protests.

“Woke up to see the betrayal by NLC. I knew this was going to happen.

“Once you see people who should be protesting almost sleeping in the Villa, compromise is the next thing.

“They suspended the strike without achieving anything. A hungry man cannot do Aluta. Shame!”
