The African Democratic Congress has rejected reports of internal turmoil, stressing that the party is intact and working towards strengthening its national presence before the 2027 polls – www.naijnaira.com reports.
In an interview with Arise Television, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed what he described as false claims about a change of leadership, according to Daily Post.
Abdullahi explained that the resignation of the former National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, was official and transparent, leaving no grounds for confusion.
He insisted that the constitution of the ADC empowers the National Executive Committee to take decisions on behalf of the convention, which guides all leadership matters.
His remarks followed a press briefing by Nafiu Bala, who claimed he was the rightful successor to Nwosu under the provisions of the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.
Bala had argued, “Our former chairman stepped aside, and by law, I am his natural replacement.”
Reacting to this statement, Abdullahi said, “This notion of crisis is good for headlines, but there is no crisis in the ADC. If he insists otherwise, he should report to the police instead of calling press conferences.”
The spokesman further added that Bala had made the same claims weeks ago, questioning why the story keeps resurfacing.
With the 2027 elections drawing closer, the ADC leadership maintains its focus on internal stability and expansion across Nigeria.
