Senator David Mark has stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will not back any presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He addressed party stakeholders in Abuja, emphasizing that ADC under his leadership will remain transparent and impartial.

“All of us are equal stakeholders, equal joiners, equal owners of this party,” he said.

Mark explained that the party’s priority is building a credible platform that resonates with the majority of Nigerians.

“We don’t want this country to sink, and if we fail to act, we all sink together,” he warned.

He urged party members to put ambition aside and focus on unity and building the party structure first.

According to him, the ADC must prove it operates differently from other political parties.

He said Nigerians should take ownership of the party and rebuild trust in democratic governance.

Mark criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for failing in its promises on national security.

“If insecurity has worsened under their rule, how can they still earn public trust? The answer is no,” he added.

The ADC accused the APC of using names of non-members to file a legal case against the party.

It claimed that the names in the lawsuit don’t appear in any digital or physical registers of the ADC in Kogi or Nasarawa.

“It shows desperation from a ruling party resorting to political manipulation,” the ADC said in a statement.

Mohammed Sheriff, leader of ADC’s National Legal Support Group, said 97 lawyers are ready to defend the party in court.

Meanwhile, the APC dismissed ADC’s claims of executive intimidation as fiction.

APC spokesperson Felix Morka said the allegations were “poorly imagined” and lacked any evidence.

He described the claims as part of a “political phishing expedition” with no basis in fact.

“There was no secret meeting, no coercion, no intimidation,” Morka stated.

He argued that the ADC’s internal conflicts are of its own making, not caused by external interference.

According to him, the ADC is falling apart due to internal disunity and self-serving leadership.

He said the party is a coalition of former presidential aspirants with no clear agenda for the country.

Morka accused the ADC of trying to distract the public with empty accusations while offering no alternative policies.

“They vilify President Tinubu’s record but can’t show a better path for Nigeria,” he said.
