African basketball powerhouse D’Tigress have officially confirmed the 12 players heading to Abidjan for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship, NaijNaira can report.

The final list was revealed by the association, covering the tournament set to run from July 26 to August 3 in Côte d’Ivoire.

Head coach Rena Wakama, who led Nigeria to glory in 2023, returns at the helm for her second stint and now eyes back-to-back continental titles.

Wakama recently picked up the Coach of the Year award during the 2024 Paris Olympics, adding momentum to her leadership.

This year’s final roster features Promise Amukamara, Ezinne Kalu, Elizabeth Balogun, Amy Okonkwo, Nicole Enabosi, and Pallas Kunayi.

Also making the cut are Victoria Macaulay, Vera Ojenwa, Blessing Ejiofor, Ifunaya Okoro, Sarah Ogoke, and Murjanatu Musa.

These players earned their spots after a competitive selection process from a 20-player provisional list unveiled in late June.

To sharpen their edge, the Nigeria Basketball Federation organized a “Homecoming Tournament” in Abuja between July 18 and 20, where the team faced Kenya and Togo.

Twelve nations are divided into four pools in Abidjan, with the tournament winner guaranteed a direct ticket to the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.

Teams finishing in second, third, and fourth positions will still have a shot at World Cup spots through the March 2026 Qualifiers.

Nigeria’s dominance in AfroBasket stretches back to 2015, having won the last four editions without dropping a single game.

Their run began with a third-place finish against Angola and has since evolved into an unbeaten legacy on the continental stage.

With six overall titles to their name, D’Tigress step into Abidjan as front-runners to extend their streak and rewrite the record books.
