French football star Karim Benzema has signed a three-year contract with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad, as confirmed by the club on Tuesday.
In a video on Twitter, Benzema expressed his excitement to be joining the team in Jeddah.
Al-Ittihad also welcomed the striker, tweeting “Benzema is here, a new tiger will roar, welcome to Ittihad!”
Benzema bid farewell to Real Madrid at a ceremony on Tuesday, stating that he believed it was time for him to move on.
During his 14-year stint at Real Madrid, Benzema helped the team win numerous titles, including five UEFA Champions League titles and four Spanish La Liga titles.
He is also the club’s second all-time scorer, with 354 goals in 648 appearances.
In addition, Benzema won the prestigious 2022 men’s Ballon d’Or award after a successful 2021-22 season for club and country.
