Anthony Joshua is set to face Tyson Fury in what is being called the Battle of Britain mega-fight this summer, but only if he can beat Jermaine Franklin on Saturday, April 1.
The world title heavyweight fight is expected to happen due to the collapse of Fury’s April 29 fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
Joshua will be under pressure to avoid a loss to American slugger Jermaine Franklin at the O2 this weekend.
If he wins, his promoter Eddie Hearn has said that the Fury fight is back on the table and the deal is already done in principle.
The original contract for the fight was finalized for a December fight, but disputes over purse splits wrecked Fury-Usyk.
However, an agreement is in place for a 60-40 split in Tyson’s favor.
Talks have been held this week with Fury’s promoter Frank Warren’s son, and the original contract is still in place.
The timing is perfect now, as it happens because of the circumstances with Usyk.
This is the very last chance for this huge fight to happen.
AJ knows there’s a big opportunity, but he also has his total focus on Franklin.
Fury vowed he would never again entertain a Joshua fight after the December cancellation, but with Usyk’s withdrawal, the Gypsy King has the chance to resurrect one of the biggest domestic fights of all time.
