APC leaders from the North-Central have called on President Bola Tinubu to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate in the 2027 elections – www.naijnaira.com reports.
According to Tribune Online, the demand came from the North Central APC Forum, which issued a statement in Abuja over the weekend.
Forum chairman Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga dismissed recent demands for the vice-presidency to be zoned to the North-Central region.
“The North Central APC Forum rejects calls for President Bola Tinubu to drop Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate in 2027,” he stated firmly.
Zazzaga added that groups pushing for Shettima’s replacement do not represent true stakeholders in the zone.
He explained that backing Tinubu automatically includes supporting Shettima, describing any attempt to alter the ticket as “counterproductive.”
The forum assured Tinubu of its commitment to his re-election campaign and vowed to replicate the support given in 2023.
According to Zazzaga, the Middle Belt will not abandon the APC ticket despite the Muslim-Muslim pairing, since Christians from the region already occupy key national offices.
He stressed that Tinubu’s performance in office will ultimately secure voter confidence in 2027.
